Who Am I?
My name is Ellison, I’m ten years old, and I am from America. I’m just a typical ten year old that likes to draw, I like coding, I love my family and I hang out with my friends, I’m on the soccer team, and I love to do math. My favorite animals are Elephants, the largest land mammal.
Why This Idea, Why This App?
This all started when I moved overseas from America to Dubai. Since we moved away from our Great Grandfather, we didn’t have as much time to talk with him over Skype or in person. So I wanted to create something that connects my Great Grandfather with other kids. But then I had the idea to let people 50 and over all over the world connect with kids from all over the world. And I thought that because, people 50 and over will most likely have a lot of experience and they can share their knowledge and they can also be a bit lonely sometimes, so connecting with kids can help them a lot. Also with kids, they can get more empathy for an older generation and learn new things and share with their elders.
What do I Hope for the app?
I’m hoping that in the future, this app will be published and that it will have an impact on people’s lives in ways of interacting with other people. Also so that people can use this app to learn new things with other people.
We just read this article by Sixty and Me about loneliness and how to combat it. We believe Generation Connection is one great way to help with loneliness.
Maybe you've stepped away from your full-time job where people were only a fingertip away, and now you have to stretch much further to make connections. If you're retired or working independently from home, loneliness is a real problem with significant side effects."
